Balayage
Here at the salon, our color services take up a lot of our appointments. One of our popular services is the Balayage. Pronounced BALL-eee-YOJ, it is the french word for a hair coloring technique where the hair is painted evenly by hand, or the free-hand method, to give a gradient look of dark to highlighted hair. Often compared to Ombre hair, but the same idea: A gradual increase in brightness from the middle of the hair to the tip.
Balayage has become a popular trend in the last few decades. Why? It offers a more customized look to your do, and tends to grow better with the hair over time. It is a foil-free process that is completely unique to your vision. We’re proud to offer Balayage at our salon; highlighting your hair for a more natural look. Here are some things you’ll want to know before a balayage appointment:
For one, these appointments are time consuming. Depending on your hair type and length, it can take up to three hours. We offer full balayage, and partial balayage, the latter taking about an hour. We will of course offer you coffee, tea, soda or wine with snacks during your stay. We also have free WiFi, an assortment of magazines, and a TV! So be ready to hang out for a while.
Secondly, we want our clients to know that it is not just for blondes! Any hair color can have a balayage. We can add strawberry tones to auburn hair, and chestnut tones to dark brown hair. The color possibilities are endless. For a clearer view on what you want for your hair, book a free consultation with your stylist beforehand to make sure that it’s perfect.
Last but not least, there are a couple of steps to take after your appointment ends. Fortunately balayage is pretty easy to maintain. Conditioner your hair after washing, or use a leave in conditioner. Use minimal heat when drying your hair or using styling tools, and ask your stylist for tool recommendations! And when brushing, use a soft brush and be gentle when working through your hair. Your hair has just been through a lot, so you want to take extra care of it after a color.
