New Year, New You. 5 Beauty Resolutions For 2019
As stylists in this industry, not only do we want to ensure that people love the way their hair looks at the end of their services, but are in love with the way their hair feels as well. Here are five beauty resolutions that you can implement to keep your hair healthy in the New Year.
1) Before going to visit any salon take a look at their website and reviews. This will help you to determine which stylist would be able to meet your needs, if that particular salon environment would be a good fit for you, as well as browse the product lines they use and sell.
2) Anytime that you are about to have a chemical service performed on your hair, ask your stylist if they use any bond building products in their color and bleach. When added to your color, these products rebuild the bonds that are broken during the color process resulting in having healthier hair.
3) If you feel like your hair is dehydrated, fragile, and lifeless, a visit to your salon for a deep conditioning treatment can bring your hair back to life. This treatment improves the health of your hair from the inside out and will improve your hair’s appearance.
4) Once you have achieved your desired hair look, there are many products out there for at home maintenance. Many stylists recommend using sulfate free shampoos and conditioners. Sulfates remove the natural oils from the hair, leaving it dehydrated and damaged and can fade your color faster.
5) This last tip is usually the hardest to follow. It’s better to not wash your hair on a daily basis. Daily shampooing, even with a sulfate free shampoo, is never good for the hair. When you shampoo everyday, you remove the natural oils the hair and scalp need, which makes the oil glands think they need to produce more, causing an oily scalp or dry ends. Therefore, it is better to shampoo every few days and use a hair mask at least once every 10-14 days. Once you have gotten used to not shampooing daily, your hair will be healthier, less oily, more hydrated, and will better maintain its color vibrancy.
We hope some of these tips will help your hair look and feel better in the upcoming New Year!
